Careers Programme

The Careers team is the part of the law society designed to help you with you become a solicitor.

Our primary role is to organise events for every year group to attend which give an insight into our sponsor firms and improve your application skills. We utilise different event formats, like panels, interactive skills sessions and more relaxed networking sessions to let you get a feel for the sponsor firm and connect with their lawyers.

We provide helpful resources to make your application cycle easier. The Careers Subcommittee has created The Application Deadline Tracker, which gives you the deadlines for applying to open days, first year schemes, vacation schemes and training contract applications at over 50 firms. The team has also created the Application Guide, which is a great resource for writing applications and acing interviews.

We also run a formal mentoring scheme which gives first, second and third year students the opportunity to connect with a student capable of supporting you on your journey into commercial law. Earning a place on this scheme will give you access to exclusive events and rewards.
